Description
The Department of Psychiatry at the Renaissance School of Medicine is seeking a psychiatrist to establish and lead a robust program focused on treating and investigating bipolar disease. This recruitment reflects the institution's commitment to developing an integrated clinical and research effort to study and treat bipolar disorder. We are particularly interested in clinicians currently using neurostimulation techniques, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), to complement ongoing studies within the Department of Psychiatry and across the institution. Resources for equipment, space, and additional research support are available to support this important initiative.

Stony Brook Psychiatry is home to a world-class, interdisciplinary team of investigators with robust, extramurally funded research programs. Current focus areas include schizophrenia, depression, dementia, substance use disorders, and dementia. Stony Brook maintains a broad range of pre-clinical and clinical research cores, including fMRI, PET, ECT, and TMS and the full range of clinical psychiatric inpatient and outpatient services. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: M.D. or M.D/Ph.D. Degree, Board Certification/Eligibility in Adult Psychiatry. New York State license eligible. Able to provide cross-coverage as necessary. Full-time availability. Research experience/publications/funding.

Preferred Qualifications: Subspecialty training in the diagnosis and treatment of mood disorders with expertise in neuromodulation and the psychopharmacological management of bipolar disorder; experience in the field of TMS; demonstration of academic accomplishment, prior research experience and productivity, and current productivity; track record of NIH funded research; excellent clinical skills and aptitude and interest in working with fellows, residents, and medical students.
