The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology at Georgetown University School of Medicine is seeking two qualified candidates for full-time Assistant or Associate Professor positions on the Medical Educator track. These positions offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to the medical education of future physicians in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Appointment and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The successful candidates will play key roles in teaching first- and second-year medical students in the pre-clinical Medical Gross Anatomy course. Responsibilities will include delivering lectures, facilitating laboratory sessions, and participating in a full cadaveric dissection course. Applicants with demonstrated experience in teaching histology and embryology will be given preferential consideration.
In addition to teaching in the pre-clinical Medical Gross Anatomy course, the selected faculty members may also participate in advanced anatomy courses for third- and fourth-year students. Service to the university is expected, including committee work or other forms of university service.
To support continued professional growth, the faculty members will receive annual funding for travel to one academic or professional conference as part of their development within the field of medical education.
The projected salary range for this position is $103,500 - $141,300 (Assistant Professor) or $136,600 - $178,000 (Associate Professor), which represents the full range of anticipated compensation for this position. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree in a biological science or closely related field. Teaching experience in a clinically oriented, dissection-based Gross Anatomy course is required. Teaching experience in clinically oriented Embryology and/or Histology is preferred.
Prospective candidates must have a strong commitment to excellence in education and must demonstrate willingness to contribute to interdisciplinary medical education in large group, small group, and laboratory settings.
